Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium or zirconia (a strong metal-free ceramic).
They are surgically placed under local anesthesia or conscious sedation.
After a 3 month healing period, the surgically-placed dental implant undergoes a process called "osseointegration" - this is a process in which your own bone physically attaches to the dental implant.
After osseointegration is complete, teeth can then be attached to the dental implant.
Dental implants can restore a single tooth, multiple teeth and may even be used to support retention of a full- or partial-denture.

After five years in general practice Dr. Cordoves returned to NYU to focus on specialized training in implant dentistry.
In 2008, he pursued an extensive two-year surgical and prosthetic program in dental implantology at NYU.
