Likewise, pregnant women with periodontitis may be at increased risk of delivering preterm and/or low-birth-weight infants.

Dr. Nikki Lam found her inspiration when she accepted a part-time job offer as a Dental Assistant.
As a child, she had suffered through a horrible dental experience, so she only took this job to help her family.
Little did she know at the time that sitting on the other side of the dental chair, changing people's smiles, gave her a thrill that she had never before experienced.
Today, she can't imagine doing anything else; dentistry is not just a career for Dr. Lam, it's her passion.
Dr. Lam received her BS degree from the University of California-Davis in 2001, with a major in Biology and a minor in Medical Microbiology.

Dr. Mark Jones became interested in dentistry at an early age while watching his father delivering dental care to his patients in the Dallas area.
Like his father, Dr. Jones graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry and then practiced with him for 14 years.
He worked in his own private practice for 22 years.
Since then he has had the opportunity and pleasure to work in a variety of private practices including large cosmetic, periodontal and surgical offices which significantly increased his knowledge in helping him better provide for his patients.
